Artist's Description

Clark County Farm is as close as I can get to a title for this picture. A friend of mine sent me a snapshot of the old barn. It intrigued me and I proceeded to pencil in the barn forms on a larger format canvas. One thing led to another and lo and behold, an imaginary farm from a real barn. The Clark County barn scene emerged. I often take some delight in letting my imagination run wild. This was a very enjoyable painting to do as it took me back to some of my memories while living on a farm in North Dakota as a youngster. Perhaps that is why the large red barn captured my attention in the first place. Red barns and green John Deere tractors...the things memories are made up of.

Jim Gola

Born in Philadelphia in the late thirties, Jim Gola grew up heavily influenced by art and the cultural atmosphere contained in this bustling city. The city of brotherly love is still a thriving east coast art market that comprises some of the oldest art schools and galleries in America. Jim admits to spending numerous hours at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a youngster. Admiring much of the work of Americas past masters such as Inness, Moran, Chase, Homer and Bierstadt, among others. He then started to generate his lifelong love of oil painting.
