A story starts somewhere and in this instance it started from a view below our property. As some of you know, I seldom ever introduce people or critters in my paintings. Somehow I always think a static landscape view can be read into for what it is. Figures always introduce a story in the mind of the viewer. This painting started as a �pure� landscape, i.e. no critters, but on continued urging by my friends, The title changed to �Anticipation�. You can make of it what you will. I can look past the figures.
I could have just called it �A Fall Afternoon� without the addition of the flesh and blood.

Born in Philadelphia in the late thirties, Jim Gola grew up heavily influenced by art and the cultural atmosphere contained in this bustling city. The city of brotherly love is still a thriving east coast art market that comprises some of the oldest art schools and galleries in America. Jim admits to spending numerous hours at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a youngster. Admiring much of the work of Americas past masters such as Inness, Moran, Chase, Homer and Bierstadt, among others. He then started to generate his lifelong love of oil painting.
