Artist's Description
An artist friend of mine is equally an excellent photographer. Going through her photos one day; this photo of her's really captured my eye. Some things that make such an an impact with intense light and dark as this photo did, a painter just has to paint and give it his own interpretation. To sell the picture, I had to add a large heron dropping spray behind him (or her) lifting off the tip of the land bank. but fortunately for me, I had a digital of the painting before the bird entered into the picture. I pesonally prefered the pure simplicity of the scene without and biological action entering in. Different strokes...
About Jim Gola
Born in Philadelphia in the late thirties, Jim Gola grew up heavily influenced by art and the cultural atmosphere contained in this bustling city. The city of brotherly love is still a thriving east coast art market that comprises some of the oldest art schools and galleries in America. Jim admits to spending numerous hours at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a youngster. Admiring much of the work of Americas past masters such as Inness, Moran, Chase, Homer and Bierstadt, among others. He then started to generate his lifelong love of oil painting.
