Artist's Description

The Lewisville Grist Mill was built in 1881. This structure was twenty-four by forty feet, with two run of stones for flour and feed. When fire destroyed a nearby residence in 1918, the sparks from that fire ignited the combined grist mill and sawmill, burning it to the ground. The mill was not rebuilt. This painting was produced at the request of Tom Woolridge of La Center, Washington from a sole photograph from the early 1920￿s.Tom and his siblings grew up near where the mill stood.
